To all those who have commented on how they are proud of us for how we have handled everything happening with Elise.... For those who have said we have demonstrated grace, class, courage, faith, peace...
I have pondered this so much because I honestly do not know how else to handle it. We are just living the day to day and taking it step by step. Ultimately, my response is simply this: this is what it means to be held. I haven't been able to stop singing this song for the past few days and I believe it so adequately explains what is taking place.
"This is what it means to be held
How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive
This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was that when everything fell
We'd be held"
You are not witnessing two people who have supernatural strength. We are not super heroes; we are human. What you see is the grace of God being poured into our lives. And we know that it is only by His mercy and your prayers that we are making it through each day.
