Progress!

Elise has had a great day today. She has been able to maintain her temperature for quite a long time when out from her heater. This means extra snuggle/skin-to-skin time and more swing time! This has been a huge concern of ours and one of our main prayers. Thankful! Last night her neurosurgeon adjusted her shunt to increase the flow slightly. Her head circumference went down another half cm!

Physical therapy came again and she is moving all her muscles appropriately- including her shoulders and thumbs which the therapist was quite impressed with.
They have habitually increased her feedings and she takes them like a champ with minimal spit up.
All of these improvements are just incredible and renew my faith that our girl is in God's hands each day.

Just want to take a few minutes to give credit to Riley Children's Hospital for being absolutely awesome. When I was at Butler for undergrad I volunteered here in the preschool age cancer unit for about a year and a half. It was the most rewarding experience for me because I was able to spend time with precious little children and put smiles on their faces as we played games and did arts and crafts together. Now, over 10 years later, Riley has changed drastically. The nicu moved just last month from a large room with all the babies together to a couple of wings in the new tower where each baby has his or her own room. Having our own privacy with our girl is extremely beneficial to Elise and to us. What hasn't changed here is the incredible sense of love and kindness from literally every single person who works here. Nurses, doctors, therapists, social workers, front desk staff, cleaning crew, kitchen crew....literally everyone we have come in contact with has been so kind and caring. They are the definition of exceptional patient service and they make our very difficult time as pleasant as humanly possible. Thankful!

Happy birthday to my mom in Heaven today. It's been a good one.
